Nicole Johnson-Smith, MS, LMHC, CCTP, is the Director of Clinical Services at Northern Path Recovery. A licensed mental health counselor and certified clinical trauma professional, Nicole brings over 17 years of experience in behavioral health. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Saint Francis and has cultivated a career centered on trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and strengths-based clinical practice.

Nicole is also a certified crisis peer supervisor, known for championing the voices of those with lived experience and guiding them toward recovery. Her approach emphasizes empathy, nonjudgmental support, and the belief that everyone has the capacity for transformation. She encourages patients to recognize their inherent worth and pursue personal growth with confidence.

Her guiding philosophy is captured in her favorite mantra: “Be the woman you want your daughter to grow up to be, and the woman you want your son to marry.” Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dog, and traveling—activities that reflect the balance she promotes in her clinical work.
